Dr. Cheung’s op-ed regarding Legionnaires’ Disease was recently published in the NJ Star-Ledger.
On May 10, 2022, the NJ Star-Ledger published an op-ed by Hung Cheung titled, “Deadly bacteria can make their way to your tap. So let’s fix our water system” which brings attention to the need for change in disease prevention and water system safety policies that are currently designed to react to outbreaks and not individual cases. The article highlights that 96% of Legionnaires’ Disease cases are either individual or sporadic, and not associated with an outbreak.
To combat the onset of individual or sporadic Legionnaires Disease cases, Dr. Cheung opines the need to fix our water systems which can be a source of deadly bacteria in our tap water.
